Decorrelation in Feedback Delay Networks

چکیده

The feedback delay network (FDN) is a popular filter structure to generate artificial spatial reverberation. A common requirement for multichannel late reverberation that the output signals are well decorrelated, as too high correlation can lead poor reproduction of source image and uncontrolled coloration. This article presents analysis induced by FDNs. It shown depends primarily on feedforward paths, while long tail produced recursive path does not contribute inter-channel correlation. impact matrix type, size, delays demonstrated. results show small FDNs with few channels tend have correlation, use significantly improves decorrelation, often leading lowest among tested cases. learnings this work support practical design reverberators immersive audio applications.

Choosing Optimal Delays for Feedback Delay Networks

Feedback delay networks (FDNs) are often used in the context of artificial reverberation and are a class of sparse IIR filters. FDNs are based on a feedback loop with multiple channels containing delay elements, as well as a mixing matrix providing a connection between the channels. An example of a simple FDN is shown in Figure 1. For a practical FDN implementation, many parameters have to be c...

Associative Decorrelation Dynamics: A Theory of Self-Organization and Optimization in Feedback Networks

This paper outlines a dynamic theory of development and adaptation in neural networks with feedback connections. Given input ensemble, the connections change in strength according to an associative learning rule and approach a stable state where the neuronal outputs are decorrelated. We apply this theory to primary visual cortex and examine the implications of the dynamical decorrelation of the...

Accuracy Improvement of Tropospheric Delay Interpolation in RTK Networks

The effect of troposphere on the signals emitted from global navigation satellite system (GNSS) satellites, appears as an extra delay in the measurement of the signal traveling from the satellite to receiver. This delay depends on the temperature, pressure, humidity as well as the transmitter and receiver antennas location. In GNSS positioning, tropospheric delay effects on accuracy of differen...

Time-varying feedback matrices in feedback delay networks and their application in artificial reverberation.

This paper introduces a time-variant reverberation algorithm as an extension of the feedback delay network (FDN). By modulating the feedback matrix nearly continuously over time, a complex pattern of concurrent amplitude modulations of the feedback paths evolves. Due to its complexity, the modulation produces less likely perceivable artifacts and the time-variation helps to increase the livelin...

Circulant and elliptic feedback delay networks for artificial reverberation

The feedback delay network (FDN) has been proposed for digital reverberation. Also proposed with similar advantages is the digital waveguide network (DWN). This paper notes that the commonly used FDN with an N × N orthogonal feedback matrix is isomorphic to a normalized digital waveguide network consisting of one scattering junction and a vector transformer joining N reflectively terminated bra...
